Dr. Brian Richardson, and two recent graduates of the Communication Studies' master's program, recently received word that their manuscript describing a study of small town recovery following Hurricane Ike was accepted for publication. Dr. Richardson's co-authors included Sara Shaunfield (class of 2011, now at the University of Kentucky), Beth Kaszynski (class of 2012, now at Indiana University), and Dr. Laura Siebeneck of UNT's Public Administration department. The study is titled "From 'No Man's Land' to a 'Stronger Community': Communitas as a Theoretical Framework for Successful Disaster Recovery." It will be published in the International Journal of Mass Emergencies and Disasters.
