UNT Debate Qualifies for National Debate Tournament

Four of our students, Amy Schade, Collin Quinn, Brian Kersch, and Shelby Pryor, have qualified for the National Debate Tournament. The four qualified by beating their opponents during the District Three Debate Tournament, which was held on the UNT campus February 24th-26th. The District qualifier is open to all college debate programs in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Louisiana.

Texas at Austin, Wichita State, Missouri State, Texas at Dallas, the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and Oklahoma also had teams that qualified. UNT posted wins over Kansas State. Trinity University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Oklahoma University.

The National Debate Tournament will be held in Atlanta, GA, March 29th-April 2nd, 2012. UNT has qualified for the National Debate Tournament 36 times since 1948, placing in the top five in 2004 and 2009 and winning in 1948.
