Volunteering

Alumni from the UNT Department of Communication Studies help build a COMMunity that provides insight and internships for students and networking events. We welcome our alumni to come back to UNT and volunteer their insight and time through the following opportunities:

Become a Mentor

The Communication Studies Department is developing a program called C.A.M.P., short for "Communication Alumni Mentorship Program." The program is designed as a platform to give our students a chance to network directly with an alumnus in order develop their future careers goals, enhance leadership and technical skills, and build beneficial relationships to help them succeed in a dynamic workforce. For the program, each alumnus will be paired with 1-2 students exhibiting interest in like careers in order to foster personal and professional growth.

Interested in taking part in this program?

Please reach out to Dr. Brian Richardson, Brian.Richardson@unt.edu, about participating in next year's event.

Speak to Students

Guest lecturers add to the value of classroom instruction. Alumni are also encouraged to speak to students through COMM Future Pros, which is a student organization that has monthly meetings about professional development and getting the most out of a communication studies degree. Send an email to CommStudies@unt.edu if you are interested in presenting for this student organization.

Sponsor Student Internships

Our internship program connects students with organizations and corporations for work assignments that typically last 3-4 months. Internships provide students valuable experience, networking opportunities, and information about prospective careers. If your organization, is interested in hosting interns from the Communication Studies department, please email us at CommStudies@unt.edu. Students can receive course credit for their participation.
