Dr. Lain, whose Study Abroad “Rhetoric and Popular Culture” course is currently in Japan, delivered a lecture entitled “How Horror Movies Attract Us: An Example of Zombie Movies.”

The lecture, hosted by the International Graduate School of Meiji University in Tokyo, was broadcast across four campuses in both English and Japanese, with students and faculty joining virtually and in-person.

Dr. Lain was invited to speak by Dr. Takeshi Suzuki, Secretary General of the Meiji University Faculty Association. Following the event, Dr. Lain said, “It was a true honor to represent UNT abroad and to engage in such a dynamic conversation about popular culture, fear, and the undead. Thank you to Dr. Suzuki and Meiji University for the generous invitation and warm welcome.”
