Students in COMM 4740: Landscapes of Public Memory visited the Texas Fashion Collection this week to explore how fashion archives shape collective identity and culture.

By examining how garments are preserved and organized, students saw how the very structure of an archive makes fashion history and memory accessible—allowing us to understand not only what we wear, but what who we are.

This field experience reflects the heart of the course: connecting communication theory to lived spaces of memory, from fashion archives to museums and monuments across North Texas. Field experiences like this are just one way Communication Studies at UNT connects theory to practice. Want to learn more? Explore @untcomm and learn about our COMMunity!

Special thanks to Annette Becker, Director of the Texas Fashion Collective, for your time and incredible passion for exploring Texas histories!
