Meet Our New Graduate Students

This semester we have seven new graduate students including Kimberly Berry, Emily Boldt, Zane Dayton, Les Delgado, Ruth Fajardo, Rowdy Farmer, Kassie Hall, Bailey Standfield, Garret Zettle and Lexie Nelson who is currently a senior in the pathway program which means she is already taking graduate level classes. Learn more about them all below!

Kimberly Berry

Kimberly is from kileen, Texas and she graduated from Prairie View A&M University with her bachelor's degree in Mass Communication in 2016. In her spare time she enjoys listening to music, reading and binging on Netflix.

Emily Boldt

Emily graduated from The University of North Texas in 2018 with a major in Communication Studies and minors in Social Sciences and Psychology. As a graduate student she plans to focus her research on the environment, tourism and health. Some fun facts about Emily are that her favorite animal is an otter and she loves traveling and music.

Zane Dayton

Zane graduated from UNT with his degree in Communication Studies and is currently studying health communication and social media. He has two brothers Zach and Zeke and has lived in North Texas for nearly all of his life and wouldn't call any other place home. Hockey is his favorite sport and the Dallas Stars are his favorite team. Zane likes long walks on the beach while eating fruit baskets and listening to hardcore opera jazz. He wants to continue his education after graduate school and pursue a PhD and remain in academia.

Les Delgado

Les is from the Chicagoland area and moved to Texas to pursue their Masters degree in Communication, focusing on performance studies at UNT. Les did their undergrad studies in performance at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. UNT is a special place for their heart as various mentors are alumni of the department, so Les looks forward to these two years here at UNT with the faculty and students to grow as a performer and a researcher.

Ruth Fajardo

Ruth Fajardo graduated with her Associate of Arts from McLennan Community College before obtaining her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Management and Sociology from The University of North Texas. She is currently working on her Masters in Communication Studies at UNT and is expected to graduate in 2020.

Rowdy Farmer

Rowdy Farmer graduated from Texas A&M University in 2018 with a degree in Political Science.

Kassie Hall

Kassie loves to learn and has always been somewhat of an over-achiever, so grad school was the only logical option for her post-undergrad. Outside of school, she enjoys shopping, eating, traveling, and re-watching the same five movies and television shows. Kassie hopes to earn her Master's and either teach higher education or work at the corporate level for American Eagle.

Bailey Stanfield

My name is Bailey, I graduated from Texas State University with a bachelors of communication studies and two minors of leadership studies and health communication. I am in the grad program now studying to be in HR / Training and development. I competed gymnastics in college and I will be serving as a TA next semester.

Garret Zettle

Garret graduated from The University of North Texas after transferring from Collin college. He earned his B.A. in Communication Studies and he is interested in studying various communication phenomena that occurs while playing games. As a masters student, he is currently studying Health Communication, specifically pain communication and nurse-patient interactions. He loves playing tabletop games with, going camping with his wife, and watching Lord of The Rings

Lexie Nelson

Lexie Nelson, does in fact, do it all. While being a Communication Studies librarian, Lambda Pi Eta president, COMM ambassador, and still working on her undergraduate degree, Lexie is also a part of the pathway program which allows her to concurrently work on her graduate degree. Between running events for undergraduate students and promoting the COMM studies department, Lexie enjoys traveling and long walks on the beach.
