Gender Fair was an educational and entertaining event highlighting concepts of gender constructs, hosted by UNT's Department of Communication Studies.
Dr. Enck's Gender & Communication course hosted the Gender Fair 15 times since 2009. While the event is on a hiatus while Dr. Enck serves as Department Chair, the Gender Fair continues to be a part of our COMM legacy and we celebrate the thousands of students who have participated in and attended this event over the years!
Led by Dr. Suzanne Enck and the students of the COMM 4140: Gender and Communication class, Gender Fair presents opportunities for the public to learn about the social construction of gender as presented through five subjects: "Masculinities," "Feminism 101," "Unruly Bodies & Sexualities," "Politics & Public Life," "Gender & Violence." There will be games, prizes, and educational information revolving around a specific theme each semester.
As a tradition, Gender Fair would team up with the departmental honorary, Lambda Pi Eta, to collect items for Denton County Friends of the Family. The public was invited to donate household items, clothes, and toiletries for Friends of the Family.
