Cotton Hensley | Communication Studies

Cotton Hensley

Cotton Hensley is graduating this December with his BA in Communication Studies. As our Vice President of Acedemic Development for Lambda Pi Eta and the department's recruitment intern, we thought we should get to know him better!

Q: What do you want to do after graduating?
A: I've applied for graduate school and plan on getting my M.S. in Communication Studies. I want to study education policy to help improve communication in schools.

Q: Why did you choose communication studies?
A: When I was taking COMM 1010, I had the realization that I didn't have a fear of public speaking. I thought, "If I'm good at this and enjoy it, why not major in it?" This degree allows me to keep my options open for the real world!

Q: What was your favorite COMM class? Why?
A: I really enjoyed Brian Lain's Zombie Rhetoric class. I had never done a film or popular culture analysis and really enjoyed applying theoretical concepts that I learned to horror films. Man, you can study just about anything here.

Q: What's it like being the recruitment intern for the department? What schools will you be traveling to?
A: I always wanted to work with high school recruitment, so this is basically a dream come true. I'm really focusing on visiting smaller high schools because I want to work with kids who don't know about university options. I'm planning on visiting schools in East Texas as well as local schools in the Denton area.

FUN QUESTION TIME!

Q:What's your favorite food?
A: Chicken and dumplings are my JAM!

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
A: Teleportation! I'm always 5 minutes likt to things and teleportation would help me a lot.

Q: What's your favorite activity?
A: I'm a part of UNT Improv! I love being funny in the moment.

Q: Would you rather fight 100 duck sized Dr. Richardsons, or one Dr. Richardson sized duck?
A: One Dr. Richardson sized duck would be adorable! It's easier to have one enemy than 100.
